one step closer to the possibility of linux on the bn/vn

I thought I saw something on the Humanware site that seemed to indicate that the processor used in the BN was a SH3. Do I miss remember?

Also, from my own personal perspective I'm most interested in having the braille display work and could live without speech if necessary.

Is there any possibility of getting any hardward info from PDI?
I know that there is a number of kernel ports to different processors that are used in various PDAs such that we should be able to find one that will work...

The next thing would be the boot strategy used by the BN. If might require replacing ROM/PROM chips. Does this give anyone great heartburn?

I guess if one were still wishing one could like the ability to do a dual-boot, would be cool right? <grin

>From a kernel perspective wouldn't a driver that looks/snells/feels like a terminal and really speaks to the braille display do the job?

As a side nnote, I suspect that this whole effort will give the warrentee people at PDI fits and strokes. <hmmmm
I think this is a question that needs to be asked of someone.

I see some programs and utilities as not practical for the BN particularly because of their size. I've been spoiled in the last many years not having to do overlaying of code, I know this may make me a bit of a dinosaur or really date me...

I'm sure there are other hurtles that a group could put together.
Inspite off all that I'm still very much game for the project.

I hope we can find a way to march onward and get the project rolling.
