a bit of news, and a list check

Hi

I guess many of us are now using Linux distributions on desktops,
laptops, netbooks etc. What a pity we cannot port Linux to the
Braillenote. I have just seen an announcement of upcoming
Keysoft version 8, and while there are a couple of good features,
I am getting sick and tired of spending money and playing the
catch-up game.

I even wondered about asking a techie friend of mine to have a go
at getting into the workings of the Braillenote and seeing what
could be done with Linux, but not sure if this is a good idea.

Your comments welcomed, especially on whether the whole idea is
now dead. I wonder, though, how soon the BrailleNote itself will
be obsolete (perhaps it already is), and that's even more reason
why it should be revived with Linux).

In any case, thank you for your work in the past and for
reminding us that you and the list still exist!

With best wishes,

Dennis Freedman (DJDen) from the UK.
